A Focus Friend Alternative for Desktop and Browser
Checked 10 October 2026. The facts below cover platform support, accounts and offline use only, not pricing, so they won't go stale fast.
Focus Friend, by Hank Green, is Google Play's App of the Year and hit #1 on the App Store. I saw productivity gains by using the app, but it's iPhone, iPad and Android only. There's no web version and no desktop app. If what pulls you off task is a browser tab, not your phone, Focus Friend can't help. It isn't built to be open on the screen you're working on.
Why there's no Focus Friend for your computer
Focus Friend works by watching your phone, so it only works as a phone app. There's nothing for it to watch if your phone is face-down across the room and you're sitting at a laptop.
If your actual problem is a browser (another tab, another site, the thing you said you'd check for just a second), a phone-monitoring app has nothing to monitor. The distraction and the tool live in different places.
What PomoMons does instead
PomoMons is a Pomodoro timer that runs in the browser tab you already have open. Sessions default to 30 minutes, with a 5-minute short break and a 15-minute long break every fourth session. Every length is adjustable. Finish a session and a wild Pomomon, a food-themed pixel monster, shows up on screen. Throw a tomato and it joins your collection. There are 30 forms across 16 species, with evolutions and rare shiny and dark variants to find.
No account, no install, no ads, and no paid tier. It works offline once loaded. You can install it to your desktop or home screen for an app-like window, but a tab is all you need.

Use what works for you
If your actual distraction is your phone, picking it up without thinking, Focus Friend solves that directly by watching for it. PomoMons can't: it lives in a browser tab and has no way to know what you're doing on your phone or in any other tab. If phone-checking is the habit, you want an app like Focus Friend that watches your phone.
